The natural area serves as the northern trailhead of the Fiery Gizzard Trail that connects with the TVA Foster Falls Small Wild Area at the southern trailhead 12 miles away which is considered a strenuous hike.

Carved like a giant crowfoot into the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau, it is one of Tennessee's most scenic wilderness areas and contains over 50 miles of hiking trails.
Falls MillNestled in a lush green cove along the banks of beautiful Factory Creek stands historic Falls Mill. Built in 1873 as a cotton and woolen factory, the mill was later converted for use as a cotton gin, then as a woodworking shop. Today the water wheel powers millstones that grind cornmeal, flour, and grits.
Cumberland Mountain TunnelAt the time of its completion in 1852, the Cumberland Mountain tunnel was the longest tunnel in the world. The contruction of the Nashville to Chattanooga Railroad line came to a standstill when the steep grade of the proposed rail line was deemed impassable. The solution was the Cumberland Mountain Tunnel - a project which began in 1849 and was completed in 1852.
Franklin County Old Jail MuseumSix rooms of artifacts, documents, photographs and displays recapture the history of Franklin County, including the effect of the Civil War on the area. Open mid-March through mid-December. Admission is charged.
