The Monterey Depot Museum was recently opened to preserve and promote the rich railroad history of the Cumberland Plateau including lines such as the Nashville and Knoxville Railraod, the Tennessee Central Railroad, the Louisville - Nashville Railroad and the Nashville and Eastern Railroad. They provide an assortment of interactive displays and fresh programs that bring the areas railroad history to life.


An original log church was built by Thomas Swafford in the 1820s and was served by circuit riding preachers. The lumber of a second building is said to have been used to build barracks for Federal soldiers during the Civil War. The current structure was built in 1912 as a part of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.


Since 1998, Holly Ridge Winery has been producing award-winning wines made from grapes grown in sloping vineyards surrounding the winery. Much emphasis is placed on viticulture at the winery as they want to use only the highest quality grapes for their wines.


This "Largest Treehouse in the World" was built by minister Horace Burgess in the 1990's in honor of the Holy Father. It took 11 years to finish and is open to the public. Since its completion The Treehouse has become one of the most visited attractions in Tennessee.

This shop straddles the line between local and visitor clientele, with both a "Tea Room" and a "teen room" with beads, picture frames, novelty gifts, jewelry, and beanie babies. There is an ice cream counter, and a unique gift section.


Wooden’s Apple House is a family owned business that has been in operation for over 50 years. The orchards have grown to almost 100 acres since Oren Wooden’s father planted his first tree, and now the farm produces over 18 varieties of apples, pumpkins, and other assorted vegetables.


Located in the historic Dayton, Tennessee, this custom picture frame store is also the home of local artist's studios.
