Dekalb County Fair
Jul 23, 2012 - Jul 28, 2012

Dekalb County Fair

Alexandria is home to the DeKalb County Fair, known affectionately to locals as "The Grandpa Fair of the South". One of the oldest running fairs in the United States, the fair has been offering old fashioned fun and good-natured competition since 1856. Although the fair has progressed with the technology age promoting online registration and news links...at the end of the day, there's always a blue ribbon waiting for the best tomatoes, finest cow, and the prettiest beauty queen.

"Going to the fair is like taking a step back in time. Everyone works together to keep long running traditions alive and well for future generations. It's good, clean, family-fun at it's finest. You want to bring your children and give them the same feeling that you had as a kid," says Shan Burklow, host of the Lions Pavilion events, "There's always such a happy feeling in the air."

So whether you're out with your friends, on a date with your sweetheart, or having a fun night out with your family...the DeKalb County Fair welcomes you back each and every year as you build your own traditions along with us.
